Classroom learning should be focussed on reading, writing and math. That sounds old fashioned, but with excellent language arts and math skills, the sky is the limit for a lifetime of learning for all students.  Children learn the best in a simple, calm, peaceful environment without distractions.

 

I would like to see more resources directed to support the teachers and  work towards decreasing classroom complexity wherever possible being mindful of property tax increases.

 

I will listen to parents and caregivers.  I enjoy getting into conversations with parents about what means a lot to them in education. Representing the interests of parents in education is very important.  

 

I have the courage to speak up at board meetings for issues that matter to parents.

 

As a mother and grandmother, I care deeply about the future of all children.  A good, solid, basic education will serve children for a lifetime.  I have served as a youth group worker for many years and thoroughly enjoy working with young people.

Throughout the years, I have worked on a multitude of boards at the community, city and provincial level so I have plenty of experience as to how boards function.

 

My commitment is to LISTEN to parents, ratepayers, students, and teachers, to get a better understanding of the issues and concerns of these people.  My commitment is to represent these issues to the board, so that ALL voices are heard, not just the loudest and most insistent.  ALL students matter!  Policies should be developed with the interests of the community in mind.
